Intro to Media Arts for Primary & Intermediate (STEAM) Coding, Invention, Robotics and Design! SPARK creates a rich learning environment with leading edge technologies. Students build real world skills in the areas of design, coding, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics). This course fosters imagination and creativity through hands on experiences and skill development, promoting critical thinking, problem solving and educated risk taking using challenging and stimulating projects. TEEN & ADULT Creating Textures with Watercolour Age: 14Y and up

The medium of watercolour can be challenging. This workshop is designed to put the beginner at ease and will cover the use of different pigments, and colour theory. Video Game Design Primary (STEAM) Age: 6Y - 9Y

This video game design class is a hands on creative experience using the latest combination of non-digital and software based technologies. We use physical/tactile manipulatives to encourage a deep exploration of planning and design thinking.

Introduction to Indigo Dyeing Age: 16Y and up

Location: The ACT Media Lab Instructor: SPARK Academics Fee: $195 I Sessions: 8 W 3:30PM–4:45PM

Embark on an exciting journey with textile arts. You will dye fabrics using an indigo vat. Learn basic shibori resist techniques including itajime and mokume. Reveal Indigo patterns created on shibori cloth and explore working with natural dyes using direct application techniques. All supplies are included in these three classes. Video Game Design Intermediate (STEAM) Age: 9Y – 13Y

This class goes beyond the technical aspects of making video games to explore how rules and game systems lead to an enjoyable and challenging player experience. Students learn through deconstruction and creation of both non-digital and digital games on their way to conceiving of and making their very own game.
