Get Out Camping Trip Ages: 12Y-18Y

This electronic-free camping trip at Sasamat Outdoor Centre hosts 80 youth from neighboring municipalities, encouraging all of its participants to “unplug to connect” to one another and the surrounding environment. This nature-based weekend challenges youth to step outside their comfort zone, overcoming social, physical and mental barriers. Please contact Melissa Malo at 604-467-7497 for more information. Location: Sasamat, Port Moody Fee: $20 I Sessions: 3 F-Su 5:00PM-12:00AM May 22-May 24 #14408 This five week leadership development program is designed to prepare youth to become mentors at the Thomas Haney Youth Action Park. Build leadership skills and work with staff to create a positive culture that is accessible for everyone. After a successful evaluation, members will earn an honorarium for their time spent mentoring at the Action Park. For details or to submit a resume contact Jesse Holland at jholland@ mapleridge.ca. A short interview process is required prior to being accepted into the program. Look for PRC Youth staff and mentors at the Thomas Haney Action Park. Build your resume, expand your leadership skills, give back to the community through volunteerism and have a voice in what activities or resources you would like to see in the GMYC. This group works to positively promote youth in our community and experience personal growth as they do so. Call Clint Gamache at 604-467-7443 for more information. Location: Greg Moore Youth Centre Fee: Free | 12 Sessions Tu 7:00PM-8:00PM Apr 7–Jun 23 In partnership with Coast Capital Savings Credit Union, this program provides youth participants with personal money management skills and challenges them to critically apply these concepts to their everyday lives, giving participants the knowledge they need to financially manage their lives. Location: Greg Moore Youth Centre Fee: $5 | 1 Sessions Sa 1:00PM-4:00PM May 2 #14105 Night Hoops connects youth with their community through the organization of basketball leagues which are based out of the Greg Moore Youth Centre. Night Hoops gives youth an opportunity to wear a jersey and be part of a team while representing their community. A fundamental principle of Night Hoops is inclusion; there are no gender, skill-level or economic barriers to participation. So get ready to get messy and to have some fun making healthy snacks and meals.
