Summer Program Guide 2019

Jumpstart is about more than just gettingkidsactive.It’saboutgiving kids fromfamilies infinancial need the same chance to participate as their neighbours, their classmates and their friends. Whether it’s the chance to try a new sport or to continue with a favourite one, no kid should be left out.

KidSport is a national not-for-profit organization that provides financial assistance for registration fees and equipment to kids aged 18 and under. Through a confidential application process we provide grants so they can play a season of sport.

When families need a little financial boost to get their kids involved in a sport, with a dance team or in a City of Maple Ridge Parks, Recreation & Culture program, they need to fill out an application. The application process can take between 2 - 6 weeks so please apply in advance so your application is processed prior to fees being due. City programs eligible for Jumpstart funding have the following requirements: • A minimum of 5 sessions • A minimum of 1 hour per session • A focus on physical activity (i.e. sport, fitness or movement) • An age range of 4 - 18 years

KidSport is a community based funding program that provides grants up to a maximum of $300 to help with the cost of registration fees for children under the age of 18 to participate in community sports and provide them with the opportunity to: • Become physically active • Improve their self-esteem and self-confidence • Learn life-long skills • Improve their academic performance • Make new friends • Share and celebrate their culture • Contribute to a strong, healthy community APPLY ONLINE TODAY www.kidsportcanada.ca.
