NATALI LEDUC PUMPKINOTRON 440 CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS | Join artist Natali Leduc to create a giant display of carved and illuminated cosmic pumpkins as part of this year’s Celebrate the Night (Oct 22) hosted by the City of Maple Ridge. At the beginning of summer Natali invited residents to grow pumpkins, and now you are invited to carve pumpkins grown in our community with power tools (and traditional implements). It is free but registration is required by emailing natalile@telus.net before October 9 as space is limited. This project will be done remotely and instructions will be given via video. VIEW THE INSTALLATION | You can view the installation on the lawn of the residence at 23740 Fern Crescent from October 22 to 27. Best seen at dusk and night when lit.

THE LITTLE LIBRARY OF WHAT? Throughout her residency, Artist in Residence Natali Leduc has worked with community members to create original handbound books. A copy of these books will be placed in a “little library" located at the Fern Crescent Artist Residence and a second copy will be included in a mobile library that will travel to schools, retirement homes, community events and the Maple Ridge Library. CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS | There is still time to connect with Natali and create your own book for the library. Share stories, recipes, thoughts, poems, graphs, photos, math equations, etc. with the rest of the community. There is plenty of flexibility in terms of style, format, content, language and pace. We make four copies of each book: one for the writer, one for the illustrator, and two for The Little Library of What? CHECK OUT THIS VIDEO for an introduction. Participation is FREE! Everyone is welcome to participate. The methods learned in these sessions will generate new ways of appreciating and interacting with our environment. Join one or both sessions: You can follow these projects on Facebok at facebook.com/FernCrescent . Contact Natali Leduc at natalile@telus.net if you have any questions.
