Home Alone Age: 9Y-13Y

If your child is spending time at home alone while you are busy running errands or working, this course will provide the skills needed for them to safely look after themselves. Interactive lessons and scenarios will help you and your kids feel more confident when they stay at home alone. Participants will learn how to plan a safe route to and from school, who to go to for help along the route, what to do if approached by a stranger, pedestrian, bicycle, skateboard, and rollerblade safety. Content will focus on things participants can do to develop their ethical capacities to make good decisions and remain open to talking about their online activities and experiences with people they trust, including their parents. Popular sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Xanga, MSN Spaces and LiveJournal are reviewed and special attention is given to protecting personal identity, safe online practices and cyber-bullying.
