BEGINNER ADULT POLYNESIAN DANCE Age: 16+

Welcoming any and all adult beginner dancers. You will be introduced to the history and depth of Hula, learning basic Hula and Tahitian dance movements, language, traditions, and a simple Hula dance. Improv is a theatrical artform where performers do not use a script. But improv isn’t just for those who intend to perform on stage and it’s certainly not just for folks who are (or want to learn to be) funny. Developing improvisational skills supports relationship-building, empathy, confidence, self-awareness, public speaking skills and more. Workshops will be progressive for those who attend regularly but still accessible to newcomers.

The lei wili is made by winding fiber, raffia, string and other materials around leaves, flowers and other decorative materials. Real flowers and leaves will be used in the making of your lei. Each participant will receive a themed cookies kit that includes 6 cookies, icings, items to personalize your cookies and practice sheets. Beginners are always welcome. DRAWING, COLLAGE AND WRITING WORKSHOP–RIVER, LAND, & CLOUD Age: 5+ This Fall, the workshops will be organized around the themes of, River (September), Land (October), Cloud (November). Many of the creations from the orkshops will be displayed in the tiny gallery at the artist residence call HUTCH . There will be supplies on hand to light a creative spark in everyone. Colleen Brown, Maple Ridge Artist in Residence , will be facilitating open-ended workshops that introduce techniques in drawing and writing that invite flights of fancy and rich observation. This is an all-ages activity; adults and children are welcome. These workshops are open to all ages and skill levels. You are welcome to register for one evening or come to all the workshops. Children under the age of ten must be accompanied by a guardian.
