Fun with Handbuilding Clay Techniques Age: 5 -9Y

ARTrageous Art Age: 4 -6Y

Get creative and discover the medium of clay using hand building techniques. Students will be introduced to slab work, coil work, and pinch work. Using these techniques along with their imagination and creativity, students will create their own animals, planters, bowls, holders, and wall hangings. All clay pieces will be painted with colourful glazes and fired in our kilns. No previous experience working with clay is required. Experiment and have fun with this messy artistic challenge. Learn how to wedge clay, center it, and shape a clay cylinder. Students will be encouraged to focus on shape and technique development and only glaze fire their best work. Students can also explore hand-building techniques such as slab and coil building.
