Whether you are a beginner or looking to grow your existing skill set, this is the pottery class for you! Enjoy plenty of creative, muddy fun while learning to make mugs, bowls, and other unique clay creations. Our experienced, professional instructors will lead you through techniques in handbuilding and wheel throwing. Introduction to Textile Surface Design Age: 16Y and up

In this course, students will learn a myriad of methods for fabric and surface design including linocut printing, marbling, fabric painting, mono printing, and silkscreen printing. Students will then be guided to utilize these techniques to create a hand sewn, embellished book cover for a journal. Supplies purchased separately. Supply list will be provided in class. With guidance and references from the instructor, participants will learn various methods of working with clay to enhance their sculptural practices. Combine hand-building techniques, experiment with textures, surface treatments and apply colourful glazes to create stunning masterpieces. Work on self-directed projects with technical support from a professional ceramic artist. Whether you choose to work on the wheel, at the tables or in combination, your ideas will be fostered and supported by our team and your peers. Wheel throwing experience required: This class is for returning potters who have taken at least one course at the ACT. The skill to centre and throw a 4-inch cylinder independently is essential - the basics will not be covered by the instructor.
