YOUTH

1. How long have you been involved with Youth Services? I started when I was 18, five years ago 2. What got you interested in working with young people in Maple Ridge? The sense of community I felt when I moved to maple ridge and the amount of community support for the youth center. 3. What inspires you about the youth you work with? Their ability to overcome adversity and be positive 4. What’s your passion and how do you bring it to wo rk? I am passionate about basketball and chess. I use it as a tool to build relationships with youth and help build confidence in themselves. 5. What’s something the youth of Maple Ridge have taught you? Resilience and having a strong sense of community 6. If you could give one piece of advice to emerging adults and youth, what would it be? Volunteer at the Skate Park or Neighborhood Parks this spring and summer! This program offers 4 Leadership Development Training Sessions providing your child with the confidence and experience to be a Volunteer Mentor at the Thomas Haney Action Park as well as neighborhood parks from May -August. These training sessions focus on building leadership skills, creating ownership and responsibility, and promoting positivity. A short interview process is required prior to being accepted into the program; youth must submit their resume before March 30th, 2023.
