What’s your passionandhowdoyoubring it towork? My passion is helping people, I try to bring that mindset of humans helping humans to all my programs. I know how tough the life of a child can be and how much a genuine relationship or connection can do to help with the stresses of life. I am pursuing my degree in social work so being able to work with all kinds of kids who have different needs andwants has givenme a plethora of perspectives that I had can use for the rest of my life. What’s something the children of Maple Ridge have taught you? The children of Maple Ridge have taught me to enjoy the little things. As I get older lifegets busier andbusier, but when I get towork its like time stops and I can just enjoy and share the passions of the kids. I often get way too caught up in looking towards the future but ever since I started working here I have spent much more time enjoying the now and focusing on the moment which has been a beautiful thing. If you could give one piece of advice to someone wanting to work in this field, what would it be? My advice would be, do it. Putting yourself out there is tough especially in a field like this, but if you are in it for the right reasons then this job will give back to you even more than you put into it. Everyday I smile for a new reason at this job and truly enjoy going to work everyday and I don't think thats something most jobs can offer. NEWADAPTIVE SPORT!

CHILD &YOUTH Boccia is a Paralympic sport is for persons with physical disabilities adapted to be played in a gym with custom balls and equipment. You will learn the basic skills and strategies of Boccia through games and activities. This sport is similar to lawn bowling and curling; skills involved are accuracy, precision, focus and strategy. All abilities welcome. Equipment provided. Location: Maple Ridge Leisure Centre

How long have you been involvedwith Children’s Recreation? I have been working for the children's team for about two years now. What got you interested inworkingwith children in Maple Ridge? I always had a desire to work with children and when I learned about the kinds of programs and opportunities the City of Maple Ridge provides and I knew I had to apply to join the team. What inspires you about the children you work with? The children are who inspire me, Some of the kids we work with here are in our programs all year round and I have had an amazing opportunity to see them grow and help them reach their goals. I believe it takes a village to raise a child and I am just happy to have a role in these kids' lives because they truly deserve it. MEET CONNOR CHILDREN'S STAFF
