Spring Program Guide 2019

MEET MICHELLE " Three words I’d use to describe myself would be: friendly, kind and pleasant. My favourite thing to do at the Greg Moore Youth Centre is to play pool with friends and staff. I love the game of fireball I learned while attending the centre. One of my favourite memories from the GMYC was the opportunity to go to Loon Lake. I won a free trip from attending Youth Council! I have also made some new friends . A new program/activity I’d like to see at the GMYC would be a board games night. Some advice for adults in Maple Ridge is to allow youth to have a voice in the community."

I started working with young people in Maple Ridge because I used to participate in the Youth Centre's programs when I was a teenager, so I reallywant to ensure that today's youth are given the same opportunities that I had growing up. What inspires me about the youth I work with is watching them grow and succeed at something they’ve been working towards. My passion is skateboarding and I still get out and skate with the youth who come here. It’s a great way to stay connectedwiththemandinspirethemtopushthemselves. I find it really cool when you learn something new from the youth; recently Elijah taught me a new skateboard trick! If I could give one piece of advice to the emerging adults and youth it would be to follow your passions and to stay stoked!"
