CHILD AND YOUTH Comic Book Creations Age: 8Y-14Y

Inspired by storytellers, graphic novelists, writers, and artists from around the world, this class will examine comic book creations. Students will write scripts, design and develop characters, plots, settings, conflicts and climax resolutions. They will also study composition for panels, draw characters, settings, sketch actions and dialogues. The instructor will also teach students about calligraphy, typefaces and sound effects for speech balloons and captions. All levels of art students are encouraged to attend! All supplies included. Some mixed-media and collage techniques will be explored. Detailed demonstrations and step-by-step instructions from teacher Oksana Slonevskaya will guide students to try various styles and techniques of art creation. Students will learn some art vocabulary, art history, and will be encouraged to experiment and make their own choices on composition, shape, and colour. Inspirational ideas will be based on world renowned artists! No previous experience, required (open to all levels). Three dimensional forms will be explored. They will experiment with mixed media drawing and painting, and examine material, shape, space, texture, and color.
