Kayak & Canoe Paddling Summer Camp Age: 8Y-14Y

Learn kayak and canoe paddling in a fun and safe environment on Whonnock Lake. Learn basic skills of water safety, posture, stroke technique, coordination and balance in recreational kayaks and canoes. A variety of outdoor games and activities are included in the camp. Participants are briefly introduced to racing kayaks and canoes. Ridge Canoe and Kayak Club provides adaptive equipment to aid participants of all abilities to experience paddling. This program is for younger kids who want to explore the water. The paddlers are limited to six in a group with small kayaks and paddles made just for this age group. Qualified instructors provide a ‘hands on’ environment while accompanying children in boats to provide guidance and supervision; beginners are kept close to the shoreline where watchful eyes (and arms) are handy.
