THE MAPLE RIDGE COMMUNITY MOSAIC The Maple Ridge Community Mosaic celebrates the Maple Ridge Leisure Centre as an important social hub. Colourful geometric patterns were gathered from artist- run community workshops conducted throughout the city in February 2019. Approximately 540 unique patterns were documented! The project artists carefully combine these patterns to create a vibrant representation of the interconnections between people and place in the Maple Ridge community. The final artwork is fabricated from custom-made triangular ceramic tiles manufactured locally. A custom palette of twelve colours was developed based on over 200 photographs of the Maple Ridge landscape which were submitted by community members in 2018. The installation will be unveiled during the Leisure Centre re-opening in the near future. For updates see Facebook @MapleRidgeCommunityMosaic.
