Meditative Art & Movement Age: 6Y-12Y

EVERY CHILD IS AN ARTIST

Let your body movement inspire expressive visual arts. Students will be guided in meditative free movement, and artistic techniques they can explore in a supportive, and free flowing environment. Various styles of movement and art will be used in each class so students can build confidence within their mind, body, and art practice. In this fun clay class, students will create magical pieces using techniques like slab, coil, and pinch building. Using these techniques along with their imagination and creativity, students will create their own functional and sculptural art pieces like clay animals, pen stands, bowls and candle holders which will be then glazed and fired in our kiln. Experiment and have fun with this messy artistic challenge. Learn how to wedge clay, center it, and shape a clay cylinder. Students will be encouraged to focus on shape and technique development and only glaze fire their best work. Students can also explore hand-building techniques such as slab and coil building. Handbuilding Clay Art Techniques Age: 9Y-14Y

Get creative this summer exploring hand building clay art. Students will be introduced to slab work, coil work, and pinch work. Using these techniques along with their imagination and creativity, students will create their own pen stands, bowls, holders, animals, planters, and wall hangings. All clay pieces will be painted with colourful glazes and fired in our kilns. No previous experience working with clay is required.
