Clay Camp for Youth Age: 10Y-14Y

DISCOVER YOUR HIDDEN TALENTS WITH US!

In this five-day ceramics course, try your hand at throwing on a wheel. Experiment and have fun with this messy artistic challenge. Learn how to wedge clay, center it, and shape a clay cylinder. Students will be encouraged to focus on shape and technique development and only glaze their best work. Students can also explore hand-building techniques such as slab and coil building. Each day a different living thing will be created out of clay - insects, birds, endangered animals, and mystic creatures. Have fun learning new skills and exercising your imagination. If you can think it, you can sculpt it! Students will learn hand-building and sculpting techniques to create functional ceramic cups, bowls, plates, and sculptures finished with colourful glazes.
