Safe return to swim lessons

Swim lessons are designed to be hands on! Teaching new skills to swimmers of all ages will take on a different twist this spring to ensure we are able to offer them in a safe, thoughtful way. A parent or guardian must actively participate in the water assisting and ensuring safety of the learner throughout each lesson. This requirement will stay in effect until further notice. Although not required, it is best for the learner to have a consistent person in the water throughout the set of lessons.

To ensure the safety of our instructors, they will be located mainly on deck during lessons. There may be times they need to come in the water to do demonstrations for new skills, but expect a dry instructor.

THE FOLLOWING LEVELS WILL REQUIRE A PARENT OR GUARDIAN IN THE WATER WITH EACH LEARNER: • All Preschool levels • Swim Kids 1-4 • Adult Basics - recommended to have a support person in the water

NO SPECTATORS PERMITTED AT THIS TIME.

To allow a greater number of community members to gain access to lessons, lesson sets may be shorter than in the past. With parents or guardians in the water with the learners, they are gaining the knowledge needed for independent practicing of the skills presented in the lessons during public access swim times. Evaluation will take a simpler form. As many of the sets offered will not include enough practice time to complete all skills in a level, our evaluation process will be simplified to take this into consideration. Program participant maximums have been reduced to ensure physical distancing is possible. The number of programs running at a given time has been reduced.
