Tile & Texture with Hand Building Clay Techniques Age: 16Y and up

"Hand building" is working with clay using your hands and some simple tools. Students will be introduced to techniques like slab work, coil work, and pinch work. Using these techniques along with their imagination and creativity, students will create their own tile mural/ wall hangings or some functional art pieces. They will learn new techniques to decorate their creations with different textures. The works will then be glazed and fired in our kilns. No previous experience working with clay is required. Tied long hair and closed-toe shoes are

Clay and Plaster Relief Sculpture for Adults Age: 16Y and up

Drawing inspiration from natural and man-made objects, this class is both an introduction to relief sculpture and mold-making. Students choose several small objects as inspiration. These objects are then pressed into a layer of earthenware clay to create a mold. Plaster is poured into the mold to create a cast. The clay is removed once the plaster hardens. The resulting plaster cast is painted, hung and displayed on a wall. No previous experience is required.
