Pottery All Levels Age: 16Y and up

Whether you are a beginner or looking to grow your existing skill set, this is the pottery class for you! Enjoy plenty of creative, muddy fun while learning to make mugs, bowls and other unique clay creations. Our experienced, professional instructor will lead you through techniques in hand building and wheel throwing. Please note: Clay must be purchased through The ACT Ticket Centre at an additional fee of $25 (includes glazing & firing). Each block of classes includes an introduction to art history, contemporary art practices, demonstration of practical color mixing and application, while still leaving plenty of time for painting. Some drawing skills are helpful. Each set of four classes has unique content. No pre-requisites. Registering for consecutive courses will provide the opportunity for continued skill development. With a focus on computers, tablets and smart phones, participants will learn more about a wide variety of topics including how to engage with computers and internet, use email, web browsing, search engines, online databases, and how to access emerging technologies. All equipment provided. Troubleshooting for participants’ devices will also be available. Introduction to Throwing Age: 16Y and up

In this beginner three day weekend workshop, students will learn the foundational steps of creating pots on a wheel: how to wedge clay, center it, and pull and shape a basic clay cylinder. The skills you develop here will lay the groundwork for future pottery classes. Clay provided. Pots will not be fired or finished. Location: The ACT
