Intro to Handbuilding Age: 16Y and up
Are you looking to enhance your hand building work? Discover how to shape fantastic pieces in this 8 week, skill focused course. Get creative and learn new glazing techniques to decorate your creations. Beginners and more advanced potters will increase their skills through the instruction of experienced ceramicist, Dan Severance. Clay must be purchased through The ACT website for an additional fee of approx. $25 (price varies according to clay, includes glazing & firing). Join instructor Ronald Boersen to get hands-on with a multitude of clay techniques and materials that will adorn and elevate the surface of your pottery works. Recommended for students who have taken at least one multi-week class previously and feel confident in their wheel/centering skills. No class on Family Day, February 21. Instructor: Ronald Boersen Location: The ACT Fee: $230 | Sessions: 8 M 6:30PM-9:00PM Jan 10-Mar 7 #33047 “Hand-building” is working with clay using your hands and some simple tools. Students will be introduced to techniques like slab work, coil work, and pinch work. Using these techniques, along with your imagination and creativity, students will create their own decorative and functional art pieces, which will be then glazed and fired. No previous experience working with clay is required. Tied long hair and closed-toed shoes are recommended in the studio. Students can bring their own apron if they wish. No class on Family Day, February 21.
