Clay & Plaster Relief Sculpture for Adults Age: 16Y+

This course is both an introduction to relief sculpture and mold- making. Relief sculpture is a type of sculpture in which forms project from a flat surface. This type of sculpture is usually viewed from the front, like a painting. Students choose several small objects as inspiration. These objects are then pressed into a layer of earthenware clay to create the mold. Then plaster is poured into the mold to create a cast, then the clay is removed once the plaster hardens. No previous experience working with clay is required. Students are asked to wear a N95 mask or disposable surgical mask during these classes because of plaster dust. Instructor: Ratna Gandhi Location: The ACT Fee $175 | 8 sessions M 6:15PM-8:15PM April 11-June 13 #35952 "Hand building" is working with clay using your hands and some simple tools. They will learn new techniques to decorate their creations with different textures. The works will then be glazed and fired in our kilns. No previous experience working with clay is required.
