2019 City of Maple Ridge Citizens Report

YEAR IN REVIEW

Maple Ridge is surrounded by natural beauty. A resident sent us a copy of this photo of a bald eagle hanging around the local streams looking for spawning salmon returning from their time in the Pacific Ocean.

Rain or shine, Maple Ridge starts December with the annual Santa Claus Parade and Christmas in the Park celebration. This is the Legion Branch #88 Colour Guard who march at the front of the parade. Santa is the last entrant, riding on a vintage Maple Ridge Fire Truck.

DECEMBER

This year the City of Maple Ridge held the first ever ‘GLOWMaple Ridge’ event that ran from the beginning of December into early January. These downtown light installations were a favourite destination for families to take photos and visit with friends in the run up to Christmas and NewYear’s celebrations.

The CP Holiday Train made its annual stop at the Port Haney Station. Hundreds of citizens came out for the live concert and gave generously to the Friends in Need Food Bank. This is the cheque presentation of over $16,000 raised by local Firefighters in their annual ‘Boot Drive.’
