JUNE

The City helped bring together a number of groups to host the first Car Free Day. Downtown streets became the site for a food truck festival, musical performances, displays of electric vehicle technology and thrilling bike races. Here are some of the winners receiving their medals.

The bandstand in the centre of Memorial Peace Park becomes the central stage for the City’s annual National Indigenous Peoples Day. This is a day for all Canadians to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.

JULY

Canada Day is one of the largest celebrations of the year with concerts, dance performances, the Farmers’ Market food vendors and great family activities. This is the view from the roof of the ACTArts Centre out into Memorial Peace Park.

In July of 2019 there was a special ceremony at City Hall to hang the BC Summer Games Flags one year out from the 2020 event scheduled to be held in Maple Ridge. The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the cancellation of the 2020 Games but Maple Ridge will host in 2024.
