Top: In March, the public art component of the new Karina LeBlanc Field at Merkley Park was executed using special glass inlay into the concrete surfaces around the field. The site also included special stamped footprints of wildlife, domestic animals and prints from Karina’s soccer footwear. Middle Left: BC Family Day activities included the construction of a tree using actual branches and coloured yarn to create a beautiful public art piece in the lobby of The ACTArts Centre. Middle Right: The 2018 Heritage Awards saw a number of local organizations and individuals recognized for their contributions to the preservation of our cultural heritage. Former Times newspaper columnist AlanWoodland and former Times Editor Roxanne Hooper were recognized for the preservation of the now defunct newspaper’s photo archives. Bottom Left: The Annual Ridge Meadows South Asian Cultural Society Gala night saw local volunteer Yves Chinnapen honoured as the Society’s Citizen of the Year.
