Maple Ridge News photographer Collen Flanagan caught up with Pavel Romanchak at Whonnock Lake in early January. He was fishing for crapple, rainbow and cutthroat trout. Despite a dedicated six hours out on the ice with his friend Vladimir Denynyuk, they came up empty handed. The winter of 2016-2017 was one of the coldest, and snowiest, in recent years.
